Online Sales

Research from Nielsen Online says the toys, games and hobby category accounted for 17 percent of all online purchases in December. In raw numbers, that meant 17.2 million purchases, with the average amount spent by buyers exceeding $106.
Apparel and accessories were ranked second (more than 15 million purchases with $109 in average expenditure), home and garden products were third (just under 11.6 million purchases and $92), and books were fourth (about 11.2 million purchases and $45).
Particularly intriguing to me: eBay , which I don't think of as a site for clothes shopping, was by far the leading retailer in the apparel and accessories category, followed by JCPenney, Victoria's Secret, L.L. Bean and Amazon.com.
